Desert Rose – A FRIENDLY, LOCAL, DESTINATION.
Desert Rose serves authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern Street Food. Patrons are welcome to BYOB. Our food is based on an eclectic mix of Moroccan, Israeli and Iraqi cuisine. Desert Rose offers a casual atmosphere while providing an authentic artisan culinary experience. From the house baked pita bread to the hand scooped falafel and daily built chicken shawarma, Desert Rose provides an array of authenic and flavorful dishes. Our daily spun traditional Israeli style hummus with tahini and olive oil as well as warm hummus with eggplant and poached egg are a few examples of our homemade dishes.

Desert Rose is husband and wife owned and run restaurant which opened in March of 2012 on State Street in downtown Media, Pa. Since opening, Desert Rose caught the attention of Michael Klien of the Philadelphia Inquirer and has been named one the best new restaurants of 2012 by Mainline today, Best Bites of the Burbs by Philly G Magazine, and was named best Middle Eastern Restaurant Philadelphia 2013 by Philadelphia Magazine. Our Chicken Shawarma earned Best of the Best award in 2015 from County Lines Magazine.

Food and Drink Pairings
White wines balance well with our spicy middle-eastern cuisine. Avoid the oakey Chardonnays and opt instead for a good French Rose, an acidic Savignon Blanc (or Sangiovese if you're a fan of reds). German Gewurztraminers and Riesling also pair nicely, or make the night special with a Champagne, Prosecco or Cava.
For beer lovers, anything goes, but skip the IPAs and opt for something malty or light and clean, like a Czech Lager.
